This proposed mixed-use retail, office and residential project restores a historic 1941 structure to its original condition, while maintaining the scale of Old Town Takoma Park’s Main Street. The project would bring a critical mass of approximately 70 new owners to this important retail area. Located less than a quarter mile from the nearest Metro station, the project embodies a bold new architecture and aligns with principles of Smart Growth and Transit-Oriented Design.
The complicated project scope restores the historic building on Carroll Avenue, transforming it into community-serving retail. Along the sloping Westmoreland Avenue, new residential live/work walk-up units would bring more active street life toward the town-owned park across the street. On the south end of the site, a series of residential mews units mediate the mass of the building with the single family neighborhood immediately downhill and to the south.
