Each continually demonstrates vision, expertise and a collaborative philosophy to provide CQA clients with exceptional award-winning projects.
Heather Daley Rao, AIA, LEED-AP has been promoted to Associate Principal. With over 15 years of design experience and 11 years with Cunningham | Quill Architects, Ms. Rao has designed a wide range of project types. Her projects include master plans, mixed-use commercial and multi-family buildings, historic preservation, and single-family residential projects. Simplicity, clarity and timeless elegance are constant themes found in Ms. Rao’s diverse portfolio. She has won numerous AIA awards for her work and has been integral to the success of a diverse array of projects, including the R.I.S.E Demonstration Center at St. Elizabeths East, the Charlottesville Strategic Investment Area Plan, the House of Lebanon, the Urban Alliance Foundation Headquarters, and Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard. A keystone of her design ethos is community outreach and building consensus. This listening-first approach informs the project intention while also responding to client and stakeholder needs. Augmenting her work at Cunningham | Quill, Ms. Rao has served as past co-Chair of DCBIA Community Improvement Day; on the DCBIA Community Services Corporation Board; is a current volunteer with the Washington Architectural Foundation – Architecture in the Schools; and is active in the local AIA Chapter.
Nandor Mitrocsak, AIA has been promoted to Associate. With over a decade of experience and 8 years with Cunningham | Quill Architects, Mr. Mitrocsak has taken a leadership role on large-scale, mixed-use residential projects, with an emphasis on detailing, constructability and modern design. He is currently directing the design and construction of Reston Heights, a vertical mixed-use development in the Reston Town Center with anchor retail tenants, an active outdoor retail plaza, and 350,000+ GSF of modern residential units above. Outside of the office, Mr. Mitrocsak co-chairs the ULI Young Leaders RE101 committee and actively participates in the Washington, D.C. real estate development community. As an urban designer, his collaborative design approach has been influential in achieving community consensus for resourceful and sustainable design solutions. He has won numerous AIA awards for his work including the Charlottesville Strategic Investment Area Plan, the Branch Avenue Corridor Revitalization Plan and the Mount Rainier Mixed-Use Town Center Development Plan.
Angela Yu, AIA has been promoted to Associate. Since joining the firm in 2004, Ms. Yu has designed single-family and multi-family residential projects across the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. Her diverse portfolio includes modern new construction and transitional historic renovations. With over 11 years of experience, Ms. Yu’s designs tailor each project to the unique essence of the client and the site it represents. Through this highly personal and complex journey Ms. Yu is able to create continuity and coherence using beautiful, functional and sustainable spaces. Her attention to detail and distinct designs have led to recognized projects such as The Hyde and the Brookmont House which have been featured in Home & Design Magazine among other publications as well as the Cathedral Heights Residence which received an AIA Merit Award.
