“Shaping Communities through Design Review Committees,” Lee Quill, FAIA to Present at the 2017 AIA Conference on Architecture in Orlando
Because of their design knowledge and technical expertise, architects are frequently tapped to participate as members of municipal design review committees, commissions, and boards that evaluate building design and urban planning. Participation in these committees is a perfect way for architects to engage their communities and shape the built environment.
As part the American Institute of Architect’s annual conference, on Thursday, April 27th, Lee Quill, FAIA, Founding Principal of Cunningham | Quill Architects and co-panelists Lisa M Chronister, AIA, Principal Planner for the City of Oklahoma City, and Holly B. Stenger, AIA, Architect at Walt Disney World and former Interim City Architect for the City of Orlando, will discuss how to get involved, explore best practices for effective design review meetings, and provide important tools you can use to be a successful committee member.
As an active member of a Design Review Board and Former Chair of a Design Review Committee with significant experience working with multiple municipalities and agencies, Lee will share his insight as to how one can make the, sometimes daunting, jump from ‘Joe Citizen’ to ‘Citizen Architect.’
