CLIFTON STREET APARTMENTS

Project Description

The Clifton Street Apartments is a 150,000 SF residential building with approximately 150 units. The project is a Planned Unit Development (PUD) in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC. The existing property contained two small aging apartment buildings; a nondescript 1950s era building was razed, while the architecturally-rich early twentieth-century structure was incorporated into the proposed development. The new construction consists of a six stories, 150 units, below-grade parking, and a penthouse structure set back to allow for a green roof terrace. A traditional material palette of brick and cast stone was chosen to be complementary to its immediate neighbors and compatible with the broader Columbia Heights neighborhood. The project was approved by the DC Zoning Commission.
