Located on a one-hundred acre estate located in the Hunt Country of Fauquier County, Virginia, the property, bounded by stone walls, is comprised of rolling hills, meadows, ponds, and forest. The design team was asked to develop a compound of buildings: a Manor House, a Guest House, two utility buildings, and a Summer House by the pond.

The main buildings are sited axially, with the Manor House near the center atop a narrow hill. From this vantage point, one enjoys the best panorama and dramatic views. The buildings reflect the local vernacular of fieldstone walls, terne roofs, and a grounded relationship to the land through landscaping. Fifty acres have been developed, while the rest of the property remains as a working farm and forestland. The program for the Main House consists of grand entertaining rooms, four bedrooms, a three-car garage, and a Pool House. The L-shaped plan forms a courtyard, open on two sides for views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The house consists of three large pavilions linked by galleries: the center includes a double-height Foyer and Great Room, and the sides contain the Dining Room, Kitchen, Library, and bedrooms. The Guest House, sited for privacy down a tree-lined alleé, has two bedrooms and a central living area.
