Constructed around 1922, the La Quercia Apartments is an off-campus residential apartment building which currently provides temporary living accommodations for visiting students of Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection. Working with Dumbarton Oaks, Cunningham | Quill restored and renovated this existing and unhealthy student housing building into a new sustainable, healthy and energy-efficient one. La Quercia Apartments provides 15 fully furnished apartment units with a communal lounge located on the lower level. A new courtyard provides private outdoor space. La Quercia Apartments will be LEED Gold certified. Sustainability measured implemented included PV solar panels, VRF mechanical system, upgraded exterior envelope with insulation and energy-efficient windows, 100% fresh air into the building via Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), all LED lighting, interior materials and equipment.
